A Paw Above Canine Boarding Service provides a clean, comfortable and calming environment for your pet- our facility was purposely built with these elements in mind.
The boarding area is climate controlled and the runs are constructed of solid surface panels. This type of construction dampens sound, prohibits our guests from viewing one another across aisles and aides in preventing cross-contamination.
Each kennel is 25 square feet – a generous amount of legroom for your furry companion. Included is an elevated pet cot that keeps them comfy’n’cozy throughout the night.
From puppies to special needs pets, we work to accommodate all canines. We are confident your loved one will enjoy their stay and be overjoyed to visit again!
A Paw Above Canine Boarding is an environment for the new-age dog.Our facility was designed with the comfort and security of your dog in mind.
The boarding area is climate controlled – warm in the winter and air conditioned in the summer. Each kennel run is 25 square feet and provides for privacy with a dutch door entry – the door is solid on the bottom so our guests don’t see one another across the aisle and has 3/16 inch tempered glass at the top for easy viewing and food service.
The boarding area floor is poly coated which, not only seals the floor, but also provides for exceptionally easy clean up and maintenance. Each boarding guest receives their own pet bed – keeping them elevated, comfy and cozy all night long.
For their safety, the facility has a security system and smoke/fire detectors that are monitored 24 hours a day. The kennel run area has closed-circuit cameras that allow us to view the runs remotely when we are not at the facility.
For playtime, we have 10 outdoor play areas. Each is covered in an artificial turf that never needs watering and is easier on paws than concrete or gravel. All guests are provided with at least one hour of outdoor time throughout the day. Individual 20 – 30 minute walks are also offered at an additional cost. Each kennel run is completely sanitized between boarding visits and is prepped and ready to go for your arrival. At A Paw Above, the boarding process is simple and easy.

At A Paw Above, we recognize the challenges a doggy daycare service can present. That’s why we do it differently. We use an established profile to determine your pets ideal daycare visit by identifying their drive tendency.
Is your dog Pack Driven or Prey Driven ?
Before we can use the results of your dog’s profile, we consider your requirements for his daycare experience. We then look at what we want your dog to do or more often stop doing to promote optimal behavior.
For example, when you walk him on leash and want him to pay attention to you, he has to be in pack drive. If on the other hand, he wants to sniff, maybe follow a trail or chase the neighbor’s cat; he is in prey drive.
| Pack Drive | Prey Drive | The Ideal Candidate for Daycare |
|---|---|---|
| Come when called. | Chase the cat or follow the trail of a rabbit. | Will not chase cars, children or other animals. |
| Walk on a leash without pulling. | Retrieve a ball or stick. | Will not steal food. |
| Sit, down and stay on command. | Sniffing the grass. | Will not pull on the leash. |
| Will not chew your possessions. |
Our goal is to ensure your pet has a great experience every time they come for a visit. We determine, with your help, what conditions best suit your dog's personality profile. This assessment will show how your dog will react to other dogs in a group environment or if your dog would most enjoy one-on-one playtime. Either way, to ensure each day is just right, all daycare guests will spend most of his or her time playing, get a yummy midday snack and take an invigorating morning or afternoon stroll around the block. Whether Fido prefers small playgroups or individual playtime, A Paw Above makes daycare an option for everyone!
*Your dog must be up-to-date on required vaccinations: Rabies, Parvo, Distemper and Bordatella.

A Paw Above is the first and only kennel our Max has stayed at and it is the only place we will take him. I was very apprehensive at first to leave Max at a kennel but after his first stay with you, I was very pleased to find him as happy and loving as always. I love that the staff is so nice and friendly, Max loves you guys too. The kennel is always nice and clean when we come. I would highly recommended A Paw Above to anyone. Max has stayed with A Paw Above many many times. The last time we left for a week to Mexico and felt very comfortable not calling because we knew he was in good hands :)

Every time Odin and Bijou go to A Paw Above, they are so happy that they drag us through the front door. It is comforting to know that our dogs are well taken care of when we go on a holiday. Thank you!

I just wanted to take a moment and thank you for the excellent care you gave to Ethan during his stay. He has been boarded quite frequently at several different kennels in town. He came home in the best mental and physical condition ever. He's usually quite depressed/tired and thin - none of which were the case this time. I know he's a challenge with his behavior and medical needs. You did a great job. Thanks again!

My husky, Max, does not want to go to ANY kennel but we think he "tolerated" his 7 day stay at A Paw Above very well! Very caring staff and nice, new facility--they know what they are doing! THANKS and am recommending you to my neighbors for a two-week stay for their dog!

Our dogs were one of the first boarders at A Paw Above. We had been to searching for a kennel we could take our dogs to for occasional stays and in that search we tried 4 other local kennels but none of them were a good fit for us. Our dogs either had to be pulled in to the building or the staff members weren't friendly enough for us to be comfortable leaving our dogs with them. When we saw that A Paw Above was moving in near our home we decided to try them. Our dogs were comfortable from their first paw in the door! We liked A Paw Above so much we recommended them to our neighbors and they, too, found this kennel to be a great place! They take their dog once a week to playgroup in addition to occasional boarding. We highly recommend A Paw Above for boarding because they truly care about your dog, are always friendly and accomodating, the kennel is always clean and never smells of 'dog', and most importantly, our dogs love to go in and are still happy when we pick them up!

When we found the right puppy for our family, our breeder insisted on him not being left alone during his first few months. Chu, our Shar Pei has been going to A Paw Above since he was 10 weeks old. The socialization of a new pup is VERY important. Jennifer and her crew have done an excellent job with Chu. He loves going there every weekday while we are at work. He has other playmates and time to rest up before coming home. I would highly recommend this company to any dog owner who is considering boarding and doggy daycare.

My 7yr old Great Dane, Wellington, was recently diagnosed with megaesophagus, a nasty, eventually terminal condition, which means he develops large bags/pockets in his esophagus and therefore regurgitates water/food several times a day. I had a family reunion and then a vacation coming up, and the family member that usually dog-sits for me could not look after him. A Paw Above accommodated Wellie, along with his special raised feeding platform, his medications and his Pink cuddly hippo, and did a great job of looking after him, both times I was away. When I picked him up, his bed appeared freshly washed and Wellie smelled clean (not that awful 'kennel' smell you usually have when your dog has been boarded!). The first time was a little stressful for him, as he hasn't been boarded for several years, but the second time he did much better - thanks to the wonderful attention of the staff there. It is a lot to ask of anyone to look after a dog that can be vomiting sometimes up to 15 times a day, but the kennel staff did a great job of keeping him clean and comfortable. I am so grateful to 'A Paw Above' and now know that I have somewhere that I can leave him if necessary. Thankyou!!!
